Scene A is the starting point of the story, without it, there wouldn’t be any story because finding a enemy soldier can be a big problem (he could kill you…). In this scene, it really shows the children different opinions about war like for Thomas: “He’s going to kill us. He’s going to shoot us. He’s going to kill us. ” He is scared of war. For Michael: “He’s useless! We could rush him! We could get that gun and kill him! ” He loves war. And for Sarah: “We don’t want to hurt you sir. We’re just kids playing. ” She wants peace.
Scene A and scene B are really different, first because scene A is the beginning and scene B is the end, so scene A was meant to start it (p. 10 scene 5), but scene B was meant to end it (p. 29 scene 12). Scene A showed us a bad relationship between Michael, Sarah, and Thomas. But with Michael starting to feel guilty, they started to get closer.
